Safety at Valor Services
Each employee shares in the responsibility to protect human beings and the environment in his or her area of work. All applicable laws and regulations on environmental protection or plant and industrial safety must be fully complied with. The same applies to the company’s own guidelines and rules. Each superior has the duty to instruct, supervise and support his or her employees in assuming this responsibility. In areas where there are no safety, health, environmental regulations or company guidelines or standards, employees must make decisions on their own initiative, where necessary in consultation with their superior. At Valor we have developed and integrated many safety programs. We feel that one of the greatest safety measures are safe workers in conjunction with our Stop Work Program.
Stop Work Program
Through Valors’s Stop Work program, employees have the authority to stop work activities that present danger to themselves, other employees or the public. Employees can do so without fear of reprimand or retaliation.Stop Work Authority (SWA) establishes the responsibility and authority of any individual to stop work when an unsafe condition or act could result in an undesirable event. In general terms, the SWA process involves a stop, notify, correct, and resume approach for the resolution.
Roles and Responsibilities
• Senior Leadership: Establish clear expectations and accountability, and create the culture necessary to promote SWA
. Model SWA behavior and ensure that there is support, not reprisal, for using Stop Work Authority.
• Line Supervisors: Create a culture where SWA is exercised freely, honor SWA requests, resolve issues before operations resume and recognize proactive participation.
• Company employees/contractors: Initiate Stop Work and support interventions of others.
• HES: Training, documentation, compliance and support of the Stop Work Authority program.
